Phil Thompson nominated for Best Actor in Minneapolis 48HR Film Festival!

Each spring filmmaking teams from around the country compete in The 48 Hour Film Project: a wild and sleepless weekend whose objective is to write, shoot, edit and score a movie "short" in just 48 hours.

On Friday night, teams receive a character, a prop, a line of dialogue and a genre all needing to be included in their movies. 48 hours later, the movie must be complete and submitted for the competition...

When Phil was approached by Director Josh Schmidt to be a part of his project "Top Soil" he immediately assumed it was for a music score. "Josh and I have worked together on a number of projects but always having to do with music," Phil said when discussing how he was approached to join the team. "When he said he wanted me to act in his film I thought it would be a fun opportunity. When he said he wanted me to be the lead in his film I thought he had dialed the wrong number!"

Fortunately, Josh's instincts as a director paid off: the film "Top Soil" not only received the coveted "Audience Choice Award" but also landed Phil a nomination for best actor – not bad for his on-camera acting debut!
